Alex Brown, a division of Raymond James, has recruited an investment management group led by Jon DuPrau and Caspar Tudor from JP Morgan Securities in Los Angeles.

DuPrau will lead institutional consulting efforts in Southern California and will serve as one of the 17 advisors who make up the institutional consulting business at Alex. Brown. The group within Alex Brown works with a wide range of endowments, foundations, healthcare, pension and defined contribution plans with consulting assets of more than $7 billion.

With 18 years industry experience, DuPrau started as a quantum portfolio manager for Prudential Securities and having studied technology’s effects on the capital markets exclusively throughout his career. Tudor, vice president, Investments, works on the team’s formulas for the Russell 1000 and 2000 indices.

A recent joiner is Peter Barry. Since 1991, Barry has worked with both institutional and high net worth individuals. Barry brings more than 25 years of experience with a wide range of alternative investment strategies and prior experience as a portfolio manager at a large New York family office. Another joiner to the team is Maria Lee, senior registered client associate; Iris Lee, director of portfolio consulting in Los Angeles; and several senior leaders and supporting analysts of Alex. Brown’s Institutional Consulting business.

Securities and Exchange Commission
The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Paul Cellupica has been named as chief counsel for its investment management division.

Cellupica has served in several roles in this division, and in the enforcement division from 1996 ro 2004, re-joining the investment management arm in November last year.

Prior to returning to the division last year, Cellupica was managing director and general counsel for securities law at Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America. Prior to that, he was chief counsel for the Americas at MetLife.
